On April 27, the 2026 Yunfu–Hong Kong–Macao Economic, Trade and Investment Cooperation Exchange Conference, together with the “Quality Guangdong Goods for the World, Premium Products from Yunfu” event, was held at the Mira Hotel in Hong Kong. Anthony Wong, Founding President of the Dominican Republic Economic and Cultural Exchange Promotion Association, attended the event in person and spoke in an exclusive interview with Yunfu Media about the broad prospects for Yunfu’s premium products entering the Caribbean market.

Speaking about his impressions of Yunfu and its specialty products, Wong said that Yunfu has a rich and diverse range of high-quality products, covering sectors such as marble, food processing, and building materials, all of which are well positioned for overseas expansion. “The Dominican Republic has developed rapidly over the past decade or so, especially after establishing diplomatic relations with China on May 1, 2018. Its development has accelerated even further since then. Quite a number of Chinese products have already entered the Dominican market, and we very much look forward to seeing more outstanding products from Yunfu come to the Dominican Republic,” Wong said.

When asked which Yunfu products he hopes will enter the Dominican Republic in the future, Wong specifically mentioned agricultural products. “Vegetables grown by Chinese people are already very common in the Dominican Republic, and we hope that more Chinese people will bring even more high-quality vegetables. In fact, many products from Yunfu have already entered the Dominican Republic, and we look forward to further expanding both the range and scale of these imports.” He added that Yunfu’s stone materials, green building materials, and stainless steel kitchenware and tableware are also highly competitive.

Regarding cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative, Wong spoke highly of relations between China and the Dominican Republic. He pointed out that since the establishment of diplomatic ties, more and more Chinese companies and professionals have come to the Dominican Republic and taken root in various industries. Yunfu is vigorously developing green building materials, prefabricated construction, and health, wellness, culture, and tourism industries, which highly align with the Dominican Republic’s needs in areas such as infrastructure and tourism development.

Wong also expressed a strong desire to promote deeper exchanges and cooperation between the Dominican Republic and Yunfu. He said he hopes to facilitate more interaction and exchange visits in the future, so that the vision of “Quality Guangdong Goods for the World, Premium Products from Yunfu” can truly take root in the Caribbean region.
